My name is Michael Mandelkern and I am a New Yorker born and raised. The glass is often half-empty with me and the New York Mets (and life in general), but I can’t be anything but loyal to the orange and blue. I am 23 years old, the Mets have not made the postseason since my junior year of high school. All I have known as a young adult is a team that flashes its potential but breaks your heart.
I went to 23 Mets games last season and only saw six wins, but I still had at fun at every game I went to. The team finished 74-88 each of the past two seasons, but I believe 2014 will be an upward trend. Will they make the postseason? Probably not, but even a .500 finish at this point would feel like it.
I am a senior and Journalism and English major at New York University. I have published articles on One Jet at a Time, Mets Merized Online, Get Real Baseball, NYU News and FOX Sports. This semester I am interning at Bleacher Report. My dream job is to be a Mets beat reporter.
Follow me @metsonmymind, I’m always on Twitter ready to talk Mets.
